Review of Petmate Break Away Cat Collar

Our cat Cash, like any curious and active feline, attempts to squeeze himself into tight spaces, leap over or crawl under fences, and chase wildlife up trees. For that reason, we thought it best to invest in a break away cat collar.

We purchased a 3/8 inch Petmate Break Away Cat Collar for cats weighing 6 pounds or more because of the vibrant colors available, the bell and break away buckle. We chose the color red because it is highly visible to people and passing cars when worn by Cash who is stark white.

The bell that comes with the collar is present, according to the company who makes it, to protect the local bird population. It is removable. We removed the bell from Cash's collar.

Best of all, if your cat's collar becomes hung up on a tree limb, fence or other object, the collar quickly releases, allowing your beloved feline friend to escape.

The break away collar is not designed for use with a leash or tie out. The company suggests that you purchase a harness if you intend to leash walk or tie out your cat.
